At Dave Smith Classic Motorcycles we take
engine building seriously.
Each engine is thoroughly disassembled and inspected. An
assessment of that inspection with a complete description of what
needs to be done is provided to the customer. In this way, you know
exactly what work is to undertaken and how much it will cost
before any work is actually commenced. Upon your approval, work is
started with an estimated completion date. Any deviations from the
description of work to be completed is brought to your attention
prior to implementation.
To insure our engine rebuilds are correctly completed, we purchased
an engine dynamometer in 2001. Our dynamometer is fully automated
and capable of engine break-in cycles along with partial through
wide open throttle acceleration testing using simulated vehicle
rolling inertia and constant RPM engine power mapping. Now, every
engine is dynamometer tested to ensure oil tightness,
functionality, and tune.
For Velocette, we offer several performance and reliability
improvements. By special order we have reproduced the 1967
Production TT winning piston and can machine modify your engine to
adapt it or give you installation instructions. We have high
performance valves, guides, coil spring kits, and more. We offer
dry lubricant coating services to improve wear, reduce friction,
and increase life. Please review our Special Parts page to review
our extensive list of Velocette parts.
We can simply rebuild your engine, we can restore it
externally, or we can make custom modifications to meet you needs.
Our focus is Velocette but, we offer these same services to other
brands.
In addition to the engine, we offer special services for the
Velocette transmission and primary drive. Parts available include
5-speed transmission clusters (in road or race ratios) toothed belt
primary drive, bonded DuPont Kevlar clutch ( in street or racing
configuration) spherical rod end shift linkages, and more. Please
check us out. If you don’t see what you need, please ask. We
attempt to supply anything Velocette.
